Levophacetoperan for ADHD
Levophacetoperan1
Other names: NLS-3 or (R, R)-enantiomer of phacetoperane
Brand name: Lidepran® (8228 R.P.)
Levophacetoperan is the reverse ester of methylphenidate.
It was marketed in Canada and Europe in the late 1950s to treat ADHD, obesity, and depression.
(Levo-)phacetoperan differs from other stimulants in its effect on the catecholamine system and showed a favorable benefit-risk ratio.
It has been in extensive clinical use in nearly a thousand children and adolescents. It was found to have fewer side effects than comparable stimulant treatments over wide dose ranges.
